Watts, born 28 September 1968 is an British actress from the UK. She made her
debut in film in Australia in For Love Alone (1986) that was followed by three
tv shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and
Flirting (1991). Watts was an unsuccessful actor when she first arrived in the
United States. She acted in films with a small budget and then was a
professional actress. Her rise to international fame was triggered by this
part. Watts played the part of a depressed journalist in The Ring, a horror
film that was made into a remake. As a character in the film, she played
grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was nominated for an Academy
Award for Best Actress. Her popularity increased when she was featured in I
Heart Huckabees (2004). King Kong (2006), Eastern Promises ((2007)) and The
International (2009). As a character in Maria Bennett in the disaster film The
Impossible (2012), Watts received an additional Academy Award nomination for
Best Actress. In the 2010s, Watts played in films like Birdman (2014) St.
Vincent (2014) St. Vincent (2015), While We're Young (2016), The Glass Castle
(2017) and Luce (2018). Watts kept her acting career going through blockbuster
appearances, including in Divergent (2015-2016).
