Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born on the 16th
of May, 1977 is a New Zealand actress. She is well-known for her charming,
soft-spoken but tough characters. She works mostly in films that are
independent. She's won a New Zealand Film Award as well as an Hollywood Film
Award as well as an Sundance Special Jury Award. Her film debut was a teenage
killer in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the
United States, she built a successful career in supporting roles in a variety
of big-budget and small-scale features, such as Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock
City, But I'm a Cheerleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon, Sweet
Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006),
Away We Go, Up in the Air The Informant! Leaves of Grass (all 2009), Win Win
(2011), Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Perks of Being a
Wallflower (both 2012), They Came Together (2014), and Don't look Up (2021).
Lynskey's starring role in I Must Go I Must Go (2012) brought her praise from
critics and being nominated for the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer. It
was a turning event in her professional career. Subsequent lead roles in Happy
Christmas, We'll Never Have Paris, Goodbye to All That (all 2014), The
Intervention, Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (all 2016) I Don't Feel at Home in
This World Anymore, And Then I Go (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and Lady of the
Manor (2021) have established her as a prominent figure in the American
independent film scene. Lynskey is also well-known for her character of Rose on
Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). She was the central character of Togetherness
from 2015 to 2016, and she received a nomination from Critics Choice Television
Awards for Best Supporting Actress. Megan, and Beatrice on the Cartoon
Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) were the voices. (2016-2018). She also
played Molly Strand on the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) and played
Rosemary Thomson in the FX miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
